No Good Deed Department

The U.S. is being criticized (once again) by Afghan mullahs for being insensitive to muslims.

In an effort to provide Afghan children with something to help brighten their day, U.S. forces dropped soccer balls from a helicopter for the children to collect and use for a little entertainment in their otherwise wretched, medieval lives.

Unfortunately, the balls, sporting flags from many nations, depicted the Saudi Arabian flag that contains the name of Allah. It seems that it is blasphemous to put Allah's name on something one will be kicking around with one's foot. Who knew?

Anyhow, not wanting to miss an opportunity to complain about America, "Mullahs in Afghanistan criticised the US forces for their insensitivity, and around 100 people held a demonstration in Khost."

What insult to muslims will the Great Satan come up with next?

Ever heard of anyone staging a public protest of muslims who (frequently and intentionally) insult western beliefs?

Rage Boy

One of the more comical aspects of current events is Rage Boy, the poster child for Muslim outrage against just about anything in western civilization.

Whenever something offends Islamic sensitivities, Rage Boy is always front and center for a photo-op. It must be a grueling job being on call for all of today's outrages (bogus reports of Koran flushing, Salmon Rushdie's knighthood, the Pope, etc., etc.).

Without Rage Boy, the press would have to depend almost entirely on Green Helmet Guy to illustrate their anti-western "news" articles.

Simply Disgusting

When I saw footage of Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi getting off the plane in Syria with a large scarf around her neck, I thought: "I'm going to be really disappointed in her if she uses it to cover her head in a show of women's submission to the superiority of men" (that's what it is, you know).

Well.......I was disappointed.....but not really surprised.

She was also wearing what appeared to be thick leggings under her dress......I suppose in order to avoid driving Muslim men into a frenzy of lust.

No comment so far from NOW or any other women's "rights" groups about her giving in to chauvinist demands.

Had it been Laura Bush.....well, that would have caused a real uproar among feminists.

"The Flying Imams"

No...not a high-wire act from the Middle East or a magic carpet ride.

These are the Islamic clerics ejected from a US Airways flight getting ready to depart Minneapolis for Phoenix a couple of weeks ago. Their behavior prior to and after boarding the plane raised the suspicions of passengers and crew.

The suspicious behavior is said to have included loud praying prior to boarding, taking unassigned seats in different parts of the aircraft, making comments about Al Qaida, and requesting seatbelt extensions that they did not need. The Imams were also reported to have refused to leave the plane when ordered to do so by the plane's crew and security personnel.

An Air Marshal was quoted as having described the incident as a "political correctness probe" - an attempt to evaluate the threshold of cultural tolerance aboard commercial aircraft. There have been several reported attempts by Muslims to test security measures on airliners before and after 9/11.

From my point of view, it appears, in this case, to be simply a staged disruption that could be used to criticize public concerns about the threat of Islamic terrorism. Taunting westerners seems to be a favorite tactic of Muslim activists nowadays. The Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR), of course, has called for an 'investigation' of the incident and criticized the airline for overreacting, implying that it discriminated against Muslims.

If the Imams had been testing airline security measures, they would not have made their suspicious activities so obvious. I think they were just showing their contempt for western attitudes toward the current Islamic threat to security.

I find this type of behavior insulting to our society in general and to our culture in particular. One of my basic beliefs is "live and let live," but I don't appreciate it when people from other cultures make such arrogant asses of themselves and expect the rest of us to accept them with open arms.

I wonder if US Airways (or any airline) would be truly saddened if they were boycotted by Muslims?

Frankly, I think the airlines (and their passengers) would breathe a sigh of relief.

"Hate Crimes"

Here we go again. Another Koran in the toilet [unlike a similar story in Newsweek last year, this time it appears to have actually happened] and the liberals leftists are screaming "hate crime." I guess they think they can get conservatives to share some of their liberal guilt this way.

Well, I just can't get too upset about it. Other than the fact that it was a library copy (destruction of public property) and that it was tossed into a public toilet (littering), there is no crime. And no....it wouldn't be a crime if it were a Holy Bible, either.

It seems that every time someone is offended, they want to call it a "hate crime." Whatever the offense was, it probably derived from someone's hate, lack of sensitivity, or simply lack of respect. However, it's not a crime (yet) to destroy or otherwise desecrate a friggin' book.

If that ever becomes a crime, I'll buy as many of the books in question that I can afford, notify the press, and make a fairly large bonfire in my front yard (unless one of those frequent burn bans is in effect, in which case I'll just have my dog pee on them).

The whiners need to accept the fact that they do not have a right to not be offended. In other words, grow up, already.
