Rage Boy

One of the more comical aspects of current events is Rage Boy, the poster child for Muslim outrage against just about anything in western civilization.

Whenever something offends Islamic sensitivities, Rage Boy is always front and center for a photo-op. It must be a grueling job being on call for all of today's outrages (bogus reports of Koran flushing, Salmon Rushdie's knighthood, the Pope, etc., etc.).

Without Rage Boy, the press would have to depend almost entirely on Green Helmet Guy to illustrate their anti-western "news" articles.

A Mockery of Justice?

A short article in today's Star-Telegram raised my blood pressure ever so slightly .... just enough to entice me to make a comment on this blog.

Hadi Jawad, a Pakistani immigrant whose father was born in Iraq, laments that the "U.S. orchestrated a phony trial" of Saddam Hussein. Although supposedly no fan of Saddam, Hadi believes the trial was "was a mockery of justice" and its outcome was a "a meaningless death of a two-bit tyrant."

How can the death of a two-bit tyrant be considered "meaningless?" If you don't already understand the meaning of Saddam's death , then it would be a waste of time for me to try to explain it to you.

No explanation was given for Hadi's opinions. However, it may help to understand where he is coming from when you consider that he is a "co-founder and media spokesman for the Crawford Peace House," an organization affiliated with the so-called "peace activist" Cindy Sheehan, and reportedly heads the End the Occupation of Iraq Committee of the Dallas Peace Center.

Sorta gives you an idea of his mind-set.

Now, if the Iraqis, who supposedly live in the "birthplace of Civilization" will just start acting civilized, it could turn out to be a great new year.

But don't bet on it.

A Victory for Women......and Men

Finally, a court opinion I can agree with.

Police in Daytona Beach, Florida arrested a woman who was protesting the inequity of anti-nudity laws by appearing topless in public (oh, the horror).

An appeals court, however, ruled that protesting topless as part of a legitimate political protest (heh) was allowed by law.

Like I said, a victory for women AND men.

Love those protesters.

Muslims Offended -- what, again?

The Christians are at it again. An AP story in today's Star-Telegram reports on a Christian campaign urging Muslims to convert to Christianity.

According to the story, "Many Muslims and others consider campaigns like these offensive in both their timing and their goals." If I were a Muslim, I wouldn't be offended. I would just say "Thanks, but no thanks, you stupid infidel."

That was, in fact, my reaction to the recent admonition by Al-Qaida for all infidels to "convert to Islam or die." But I don't recall reading (in any newspaper) about any Christians who were offended by that statement. Maybe the Christians, rather than trying to convert people to Christianity, could simply teach Muslims some lessons in civility.

Lord knows, somebody should.
