If he's smart, though, he'll wait until his second term to start working on it.

It's 3am, Hillary, And Guess What?

Your phone didn't ring.

Supporters of Hillary Clinton (not to mention Hillary, herself) must be fuming. Many seemed to think she might have been Obama's choice for his vice presidential running mate, but now we all know that it's a Barack-O'Biden ticket.

It seems (to me, at least) that picking 3am as the time to make his VP choice known to the world was an obvious slap at Hillary.

I predict shenanigans at the Democratic Convention next week as Hillary and Bill get revenge for this insult.

Let's Get One Thing Straight Here

Any United States Senator who wants to visit wounded American troops in a military hospital can certainly do so.

Barack Obama says he "got wind" that his visit to the military' regional medical center in Landstuhl, Germany might be considered political. Not only is that a strangely vague way of dodging the issue, it's also.....let's see, what's the word?

Oh, yeah.....disingenuous.

Must Have Gone Over Our Heads

To the ever so sophisticated folks at The New Yorker magazine, it's probably no surprise that their cover depicting the Obamas as terrorists created a controversy. After all, most of us have little understanding of the highly nuanced satire appreciated (almost exclusively) by the northeastern elite.

For the dozen or so people sophisticated enough to have actually read the article referenced by the cover picture, it must have been quite a clever piece discussing how the "little people" are so easily mislead by vicious rumors about Barack Obama - rumors, by the way, that most of us haven't even heard before.

No harm done, though.....all the TV news channels have been busily explaining the actual intent of the magazine to us non-nuanced rubes.

Be sure to get your souvenir copy while they last.

The Straw Man Takes A Beating

I listened to President Bush's speech before the Israeli Knesset. His admonition of those who would negotiate with terrorists was spot on.

I didn't detect any reference to the Democrats or Barack Obama. In fact, I thought he was making a thinly veiled reference to Jimmy Carter, who had recently taken it upon himself to engage in talks with Hamas leaders.

Now it seems that Obama has decided to take Bush's words as a personal attack against himself. Even Obama's enablers, the mainstream media, are promoting the idea that Bush was criticizing Obama. They further state, over and over, that it was "a terrible thing to say" to a foreign audience......that appeasement of tyrants and terrorists is a bad thing. I don't know how they come up with that, but that's what all the leftists in the media have been saying.

Obama says that he has never suggested that we should negotiate with terrorists. If that's true, then how can he argue that Bush was referring to him? Perhaps Obama feels obligated to criticize anything Bush says, even if he supposedly agrees with him.

Consider this, however, from the Barack Obama campaign website:

"Diplomacy: Obama is the only major candidate who supports tough, direct presidential diplomacy with Iran without preconditions."

Perhaps Obama doesn't consider Iran's President Ahmadinejad a terrorist even though he provides training and weapons for terrorists.

In any case, my advice to Obama: limit your criticism of George W. Bush to legitimate issues. That will keep you busy enough. Making up things to complain about simply brands you as a whiner and will ultimately diminish your margin of victory in November.

That's right.....I think Obama will win the election. And he can thank the Republican Party for that.

An Obamination?

It seems the Obama-girl is at it again, this time telling Hillary to get out of the race for the democrat nomination for President. She says she wants an Obamination instead.

Okay, she probably meant "Obama-nation," but my spelling would probably be a more accurate label for America with the Obamassiah as President.

Obama's popularity among blacks is understandable (identity politics), but his popularity among guilt-ridden liberals and naive young people ("it's cool to vote for Obama") makes him an even scarier candidate than Hillary Clinton. Anyone who appeals to that demographic is not at all attractive to those of us who want a candidate with more than just a slick personality .... yeah, Mitt Romney was like that, too.

People should ask themselves what Obama has to offer the country. His promise to get America out of Iraq right away, may appeal to those whose votes hinge on that one issue, but, otherwise, he offers only an elimination of the Bush tax cuts and higher taxes overall.

None of the candidates seem interested in confronting the issue of illegal immigration, and the mainstream media don't want to bring up the subject, either.

Regardless of what happens in November, we will eventually have to clean up the mess that will surely result.

Inconsistency Or Blatant Hypocrisy?

This is what Barack Obama had to say about a white guy joking that a mostly black female basketball team looked like "a bunch of nappy-headed ho's."

Compare with his defense of Rev. Jeremiah Wright's racist and anti-American sermons that "could be considered controversial."

I can't say for sure, but I just imagine that his daughters would be less harmed by what an idiot like Don Imus said than by the sermons of a fanatic religious leader like Jeremiah Wright.

It's the Name Game, Hussein

There was much ado on the morning talk shows today about Bill Cunningham, who was warming up the crowd for a speech by John McCain. Seems he made a point of emphasizing Barack Obama's middle name....Hussein (rhymes with 'insane').

Obama's opponents are a bit disingenuous when they say "Hey, it's his middle name....we're not trying to imply anything" (wink, wink).

Obama's supporters are equally disingenuous when they say "Hey, his middle name doesn't really mean anything" (as far as you know).

But what if Hillary Clinton's real name were Lizzy Borden Clinton? What if John McCain (rhymes with 'hussein') were really named Benedict Arnold McCain?

Yes, names do mean something. They affect the way we think about someone, though perhaps in only a subconscious way. That's why children make fun of each other's names and why 'political correctness' stifles an adult's choice of words when speaking in public.
